Where?
Geilo is on the Bergen-Oslo railway line, approx. 3 hours from Bergen and 3 hours 30 minutes from Oslo by train.
How to get there?
The easiest way to get to Geilo, at least during the winter, is by train. Check the Norwegian State Railways' (NSB) web site for information and tickets.
Geilo is approx. 245 kilometres by road #7 (riksvei 7) from Bergen and baring delays, takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes to drive. During the winter when the weather is bad, the road can be closed for short periods or other restrictions might apply, e.g. driving in convoys, which can extend the journey by hours (and sometimes days). Check the latest traffic information HERE (in Norwegian only).
If you are adventurous, you can catch a bus from Bergen to Geilo. You will have to change buses in Lærdal and Gol, and the journey lasts approx. 9 hours. Check HERE for more information.
