The easiest way to reach the summit on Fløyfjellet, is to take the funicular (Fløibanen) from more or less the city centre to Fløyen. The funicular takes 5-6 minutes to reach the upper station at 320 meters above sea level. It takes anything up to 45 minutes to walk up.
The summit is hidden in a forest at 400 m.a.s.l. and reached after an approximately 20-minute walk from the upper station. The best view of Bergen is from Fløyvarden (above) approx. 130 metres to the west of the summit. In the last few years, the paths leading to the summit have been signposted and therefore easier to find than they used to be. Most people probably regard Fløyen and Fløyfjellet as the same mountain so not many people visit Fløyfjellet.
