Run #1295 - Saturday 17 December 2016 | |
Run #1295 was our 21st Christmas run. 17 hashers, the same as this year's average pack size, converged at Dr Butt's abode for the special starting time of 5 p.m. At the appointed time, we set off into the mild and damp winter evening on a run following an A-to-A trail. After a short while, we hit the first drink-stop at Finnegan's Irish Pub. After an all too short drink-stop, ON-OUT was called and we set off on a meandering trail, which took us to Muséhagen on Nygårdshøyden where an 'XT' sign indicated a hidden Christmas tree. Having sourced the tree, it was duly decorated and carried by the pack to Gjesthuset for the next drink stop. We had been informed that one of the employees would be celebrating his 30th birthday together with 90 invited guests and therefore semi-closed, but we did manage to get in for a relaxing beer. Again, time flew as we were enjoying ourselves and the ON-OUT came much too soon. The next part of the trail first took us to Torgalmenningen for a song stop followed by a group picture in front of the main Christmas tree, before heading in the direction of the third and last drink-stop at Bar Barista. Back to Dr Butt's to collect our gear before a maxi-taxi safely deposited us at the RA's abode in time for the circle. After the circle, the kitchen crew served a traditional English Christmas dinner comprising of gin and tonics, turkey, roast potatoes, vegetables, two different types of homemade stuffing and a wonderful sauce. A homemade Christmas pudding was enjoyed by the pack before the revelries commenced and lasted well into the wee hours of Sunday morning. |
