A smallish pack made it to the start of run #1268 on an overcast and rather fresh summer evening. We had been promised a runners run with optional chicken (and walker) trails and some virgin territory thrown in for good measure.

After a short chalk talk describing some new markings, ON-ON was called. The trail took us on a meandering route past Straume and ON-ON along new and old roads towards Varden where the trail split and the runners headed towards Varden and the chickens headed up a steep road and into the forest heading for Knappenfjellet, shortly followed by the runners.

When the pack emerged from the forest, we were treated to a grand view of Grimstadfjorden and the islands to the west of Bergen. The Norwegian navy's main base, Haakonsvern, was also in plain view. After a short rest, we headed for the highest point and the mobile refreshment stop.

The hares had thoughtfully laid the trail in and among the 2WW remains of FLAK U-Gruko Süd, the command building is still standing as are remains of a gun position and searchlight positions. According to some sources, the searchlights belonged to Marine FLAK Abteilung 7/802 Batteri Løvaas. Maybe BBH3 should have an excursion on Knappenfjellet?

After an YBF, we were informed that we had to backtrack 17 blobs before we were on the true trail again. After a few more kilometres of forest trails and tarmac, the pack made it safely to the ON-INN and car park.

A short drive took us back to the hares' abode and circle, followed by great nosh and beer.

For four of the pack, it was ON-ON to the Danish Nash Hash in Helsingør in Denmark.
