Run #1317 - Wednesday 3 May 2017 | |
A largish pack made it to the start of the run on the warmest day so far this year, with an official maximum temperature of 19.8°C. The start was the same as for the previous run, but whilst last week was a 99.624 % virgin trail, this trail took us on a meandering and well visited route in the direction of Kokstad. Having passed the tram station at Birkelandsskiftet (and waived at the trams that now go all the way to the airport), the trail led us passed the Mini dealer at Kokstad, to Deep Throat and Foggy Glasses' great pleasure. However, one pooch collapsed before reaching Kokstad and two harriets returned to the start with said pooch. The rest of the pack continued ON-ON up the old road past the remains of the WW2 gun positions on Storrinden. In the vicinity of Svartaberget dehydrated hashers were revived with some cold beer at a well-deserved drink-stop. After a relaxing rest in the sunshine, ON-OUT was called and the pack set off through the forest in search of the trail. This was the first trail Rescue Patrol had laid on her own, and somehow the trail magically disappeared in the dense forest leaving the pack, including the hare, hopelessly lost. Having been fortified with the remains of the drink-stop, a trail was forged through the thick undergrowth and back to civilisation in Kokstaddalen. To avoid crossing the trail, the ON-INN was placed a full 1.5 km from the end of the trail. In the circle, the normal misdemeanours were punished followed by some excellent BBQ nosh washed down with beer. |
