Four hashers in addition to the two hares, travelled to Mjølfjell for the 9th Mjølfjell Hash Weekend. The hashers, who elected to watch the UCI World Racing Championship held in Bergen instead of doing the Mjølfjell weekend, missed a fantastic event.

The hares wished everyone welcome with a glass of bubbly before the pack set off. The trail took us up to the railway station, sans trains, back to the "main" road, across the railway line and ON-UP Ljosanddalen on the east side of the river.

The autumn colours were fantastic and the sun was shining from a clear blue sky as we made it to the first of three drink stops, where some liquorice snaps was served. After a relaxing stop, the trail continued past the remains of two armoured vehicles used for target practice (the whole valley is a military training area), and ON-ON to 'Rjoani Bridge', constructed by 70 Gurkha Field Support Squadron in August 2002, for the second drink-stop.

ON-OUT was called when all the beer had been consumed, and the trail took us across 'Grodgjuvet Bridge', constructed by 12 (Nova Scotia) Field Squadron Royal Engineers in 1976. The trail followed the road back down the valley on the west side of the river. Halfway down the valley, the third and final drink-stop was called very close to the river.

When the remaining liquorice snaps had been consumed, ON-OUT was called and the trail took us further DOWN-DOWN the valley to the traditional swim stop. Lo and behold, only Foggy ventured into the fresh mountain river, whilst the others enjoyed the view from the safety of the shore.

From there it was a short trek to the ON-INN. Everyone was punished in the circle, and the run was rounded off with some champagne care of Deep Throat, wonderful nosh and a party that lasted well into the night. We had the pleasure of phoning Abominator some time during the night, although he probably did not have as much pleasure talking with us as we had talking with him.
