Run #1450 - Saturday 25 May 2019 | |
An excellent English breakfast revived the pack and after a few beers, ON-OUT was called and the pack headed for the bus that would take us to Fjøsanger for the start of the 2019 Killer Hill run. This was a Killer Hill run with a difference: there were four live hares and two trails, one trail for 'runners' and one trail for walkers. After a short chalk-talk, the hares called ON-ON to start the 2019 Killer Hill run. The walkers trail mostly followed various roads in the direction of Danmarksplass and a drink-stop before crossing Lillepudden to the ON-INN and the pub 'Cornerbaren' at Møhlenpris. The start of the runners trail past Langegården and Lerkhaugen was identical to the 2005 trail but after a while the trail headed for Mindebakken rather than Gullsteinen. Just before the last steep climb to the summit, the trail headed down hill towards Rosenlund for the first drink-stop and the first check-and-wait. The last hashers to arrive did not have time to enjoy their beer before the hare called ON-OUT. After a few minutes, the pack followed the trail up a very steep climb where ropes were the order of the day. In approx. 800 metres, the trail took the pack from 275 metres above sea level to 477 metres above sea level and the summit and second drink-stop (and second check-and-wait). By this time, the clouds had closed in and the rain had started so there was no view to enjoy. As the pack was getting wet and cold, ON-OUT was called before the last in-coming hashers had had time to drink their drink-stop beer and eat their lunch. The trail down the mountain followed a meandering path down to Melkeplassen and on to Løvstien. From there the trail followed mostly roads before crossing Lillepudden to the ON-INN and the pub 'Cornerbaren' to re-join the walkers. After a few beers, the bus returned and the final ON-OUT was called. With everyone safely back at the venue, the circle was held. In addition to the 'normal' misdemeanours, the RA decided to rename himself, swapping names with 2.8 Seconds, a harriette from Århus H3. The presentation of gold, silver and bronze medals in the circle, was a Killer Hill first:
After the circle, an unending supply of gin-and-tonics and beer kept the pack happy until dinner and the 'Green Theme' party which lasted well into the wee hours of Sunday morning. The traditional bonfire was lit after dinner and kept the pack warm during the rather damp and fresh spring evening and night. |
